Paus Benedikstus adopted six new cardinals

One of the six new cardinals are new cardinals Lebanon, Bechara Boutros Al Rahi, which is the patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Church.

The Vatican said the representative of the Lebanese Shia Islamist party, Hezbollah, will attend the appointment ceremony.

Other new cardinals come from Nigeria, India, the Philippines, Colombia and the United States, and none of Italy.

This fact called unusual because Italy had been the largest contributor to the cardinal in the Catholic Church.

The addition of six new cardinals will increase the number of member colleges of cardinals to number 212 and number 120 cardinal-Elektor.

Currently there are 116 cardinal-Elektor, but two of them, Cardinal Francis Arinze and Cardinal Renato Martino, will be aged 80 years before the date of 24 November 2012 and thus lost their right to vote in a future conclave.

During his pontificate, Pope Benedict XVI has appointed 67 new cardinals.
